How does the Service process work for Stair Lifts?
We will come to your home and do a Diagnostic to find out what exactly is going on. Any issues that arise could be mechanical, electrical or operational so we need to get in there and figure out what is malfunctioning. If it is something we can fix on the spot we will give you a quote and get it done. If it is a bigger issue we will provide you with a quote on the repair and set some expectations on timeline of the repair. We may have the parts in stock or we may need to order special parts but we will discuss all of that with you.
Something is wrong with the machine, can you tell me what's wrong with it over the phone?
Unfortunately, a technician has to be the one to see it and use diagnostic tools on it to determine what is wrong. Our office team can not answer questions over the phone as they are not technicians. They will gladly schedule you a Diagnostic with a Technician either in our store or in your home to explore what could be going wrong.
How long will a Stair Lift battery last?
A battery charges on its own when not in use and on the charging strip at the top or bottom of the stairs. This requires no maintenance or action. If you have a power outage or emergency such as a fire, the Stair Lift will go up and down the stairs approximately 40 times before needing to be recharged. In terms of years, it should last you 5-7 years so if you're having issues sooner than that we need to get a look at that.
Does the Stair Lift need to be plugged in?
Yes, it does. The machine functions on batteries inside the chassis but they recharge from the wall. Any normal three pronged outlet will be sufficient. We do not need special electrical requirements.
The Stair Lift is leaning or bending, what should I do?
Stop using it immediately and get a diagnostic before you use it again. It could be something very simple or it may be a more complex or dangerous situation.
Do you service all brands?
We do not service every brand. Please make us aware at time of booking what kind you have so we are sure to be able to assist.
I didn't buy the Stair Lift from Mobility Plus. Will you service or repair it if I bought it somewhere else?
Yes, we absolutely will. Some brands are just tough to source parts on but we can discuss that with you before booking.
Does Insurance cover Stair Lift service or repair?
Your insurance MAY cover your Stair Lift but Mobility Plus will not bill insurance. That is a question for your insurance company and your policy. Typically, people purchase the machine service privately from us and then apply for reimbursement from insurance but you should connect with your insurance company first before booking.
What if I make an appointment and cancel?
You can cancel your appointment but cancelations will incur cancellation fees depending on timing and if the crews are already there or on their way. You are permitted to reschedule your appointment twice instead of cancelling for no charge. If we have scheduled you three times (original appointment and two reschedulings) we will require another payment to put you back on the calendar. We schedule time and push back or deny other customers for your set appointment so we must have rules in place for repeated rescheduling.
Do you do appoint times for Stair Lift Service or Repairs?
We do appointment “windows1” or a block of time that the technician will arrive at your home. Our technicians always call when they are on their way. It is important for you to answer or respond to this call to coordinate with the technician. We do not offer exact times but can generally accommodate schedules and needs of our customers. We do our best to accommodate everyone we need to service or install that day so that's why we need windows instead of exact times.
Can I pay cash for a Stair Lift Diagnostic?
You must pay for your in-home Diagnostic over the phone with a coordinator by credit card before we will send out a technician. You will be supplied an estimate for repairs and we do allow cash payments for parts and service. Unfortunately, we have had to make this a requirement.
Will you remove a Stair Lift?
Yes, we will even if we didn't sell or install it originally. Please call to discuss and coordinate.
Can you move a Stair Lift from one house to another?
Yes, we can depending on a few factors. Please call to discuss and coordinate.
Can I book a Stair Lift Service online?
Yes absolutely. Our online booking tool is available 24/7 with “real time updates” of our schedules so you can book anything you want whenever you want. A representative will contact you during normal business hours to confirm your reservation once it is set. If you don't see a date and time that you want please call the store as we may be able to move some things around where the online booking tool doesn't have this capability.
Can I book a Stair Lift Service over the phone?
You may book over the phone. If you'd like to talk to a live person a team member would be happy to discuss and book for you during normal business hours.
Do you offer same day Stair Lift Service?
We do offer same day Service in most cases. In the unique case that we can not we will work to find a solution for you.
Do you replace batteries?
Yes we do. We keep batteries in stock and ready so we can typically have that repair or replacement done same day.
How long does it take to Service or Repair a Stair Lift?
A diagnostic should take less than an hour to figure out what is malfunctioning with the Stair Lift. The repair time can vary greatly depending on what exactly is going wrong with the machine and if we have the parts to fix it. Your Technician will review the Diagnostic and recommended repair with you before moving forward.
What brands of Stair Lifts do you do?
We service multiple brands but some brands won't allow third party buyers of parts. So we can Diagnose your machine and tell you what's wrong but your manufacturer may not sell us the appropriate parts to fix it. When you call to book you should have your make and model if possible so we can discuss the options with you.
Do Stair Lifts need regular Maintenance or Service?
Yes they do. Just like any machine, regular care and maintenance will go a really long way in keeping it in tip top shape. We have different options depending on if you bought it from us or not. Please call to discuss and coordinate.
I bought parts for my Stair Lift, will you install them?
We will not do service or repairs on parts you order or found. We guarantee our work because we handle the repair from the diagnostic through the correct part ordering to the installation or service or repair. We can't stand behind a repair we didn't fully handle so we won't do them at all.
Do you offer used parts for Stair Lift repairs or service?
We do sometimes have that option so if that is something you'd like to discuss please let us know and we will save you money where we responsibly can.
